The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, CGO Pipeline Integrity Project Management Implementation, you will oversee the execution of pipeline integrity maintenance projects which may include: pipeline integrity digs and repairs, class location upgrades, hydrotesting, installation of in-line inspection (‘ILI’) launchers and receivers, geotechnical projects, tethered ILI runs, and the emergency pipeline repair program. As Manager, you will provide leadership to team members and be responsible for the planning and execution of a defined program. In addition, you will provide leadership in managing interface and working relationship with Engineering, Construction Services, Environment, Land, Indigenous Relations, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Operation Planning, Regional Operations and various other internal departments in the head office and field locations.

 

What you'll do

  • Provide leadership to the Project Management team related to project coordination, project execution, safety and environmental procedures
  • Lead regular project progress meetings with Project Managers
  • Provide mentorship and quality assurance review for Project Managers
  • Provide expertise in the strategy and awarding of construction-related contracts
  • Develop and review project execution plans, project proposals and regulatory applications
  • Coordinate, direct, and prioritize work of external consultants, inspectors and contractors
  • Schedule and assign projects to Project Managers
  • Coordinate at a program level the numerous department stakeholders' expectations to ensure project success
  • Coordinate with applicable groups to ensure appropriate resources are available to support the entire program
  • Attend weekly and monthly meetings with PIPM Manager and other Program Leads to ensure effective communication
  • Participate in weekly safety, land, environment, and operations planning meetings
  • Communicate best practices across all Canadian Pipeline Integrity Project Management (PIPM) projects
  • Collaborate with other program leads to ensure consistency across all Canadian PIPM projects
  • Support the development and implementation of TransCanada's project management standards and processes
  • Aid in the co-ordination of emergency response activities

 
Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree or technical school diploma
  • Minimum of ten years of industry related experience
  • Commitment to safety and the environment
  • Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate Engineer or equivalent, with prior experience within the pipeline industry
  • Recognized Project Management training with PMP certification
  • Self-starter that can work well within a team environment
  • Ability to quickly understand new processes and related issues
  • Good relationship building skills both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated competence in guiding teams in making quality decisions
  • Comfortable and skilled in influencing others at various levels in the organization
  • Excellent computer skills – MS suite of tools, SAP and Sharepoint
  • Strong, analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of project management methodologies
