Reporting to the Lead Engineer, Fort Hills, you will be accountable to provide support on the day to day activities that require engineering input, in order to maintain a reliable operation pertaining to all electrical equipment within the Non Production Asset (NPA) department.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Develop electrical scope of works (SOW) require for maintenance repair and improvement projects.
  • Assists maintenance and operations by provide engineering support on all electrical systems.
  • Develop equipment strategies data sheets (ESDS) and check sheets for electrical equipment on NPA assets.
  • Create scope of work for electric heat trace repairs & improvements
  • Perform failure analysis, root cause analysis, reliability analysis and incident investigation related to electrical components for issues such as repetitive equipment failure
  • Coordinate implementation of reliability improvement initiatives in conjunction with the equipment asset cross functional teams
  • Develop expertise in reliability engineering techniques (reliability centered maintenance, failure mode effects analysis) and apply as appropriate

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five to ten years of experience in Maintenance and Reliability
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Registered or are immediately eligible for registration with the association of professional engineers and geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Knowledge of control engineer records processes
  • Knowledgeable on CMMS
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
  • A zero-tolerance for shortcuts, and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Experience using SAP

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometers north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a four days on / three days off rotation
  • Bus in Bus Out (BIBO) out of Fort McMurray, AB
