The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Governance and Programs, this position is responsible for supporting the Environment Program. The Environment Program aligns to TransCanada’s Operational Management System and supports managing risk, increasing public confidence and gaining permission to construct and operate. This position is responsible for ensuring that environment-related incidents, nonconformance's, noncompliance's and opportunities for improvement are reported, assessed and investigated according to TC Energy’s internal requirements.

 

What you'll do

  • Ensure environmental performance indicators are developed to measure and monitor business performance with respect to the Environment principles
  • Report, document, review and/or investigate and action environment-related incidents, near hits, hazards, issues and non-compliances and non-conformances
  • Provide SAP coaching/training, testing of enhancements, bug fixes
  • Review all SAP entries for completeness of information
  • Provide guidance, attach documents and close items in SAP
  • Provide training and communication specific to environment events
  • Conduct analysis on data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in Environmental Performance
  • Collect and analyze process data to initiate, develop and recommend business practices and procedures that focus on enhanced performance, increased productivity and reduced cost
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual dashboards for Environment Program
  • Prepare presentations of environmental performance metrics for Director and Vice President, Board of Directors, President’s Report, HSEC Meetings, Environment Week
  • Gather and prepare information for external enterprise reporting
  • Stay aware of industry trends for environment performance metrics and ensuring the company is current with industry best management practices
  • Research best business practices within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data
  • Update processes and procedures to reflect process improvements

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 or more years of experience in related work such as: environmental performance reporting, incident management, environmental management systems, and environmental compliance
  • Relevant University degree, HSE Certificate, Environmental Science degree and/or equivalent work experience in related fields, ISO 14001 certification or equivalent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders from grass-roots to senior policy-makers
  • Knowledge of key elements of Environmental Management Systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of environmental laws/regulations and practices pertaining to pipeline and/or other energy infrastructure operations
  • Advanced data management and analytical ability to gather and evaluate complex information obtained from a variety of sources
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate to all stakeholders
  • Good working knowledge of IT processes, experience with SAP is an asset
  • Innovative ability to work and contribute in a team environment
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Excel
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve complex and ambiguous issues.
