The opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Operations Services within Canada Gas Operations, in this position you will be responsible to manage the repair and overhaul programs for the repair and installation of major rotating equipment (i.e. industrial and aero derivative), balance of plant mechanical equipment and the Equipment Repair team for Canada Gas Operations. The Major Rotating Equipment and Mechanical team is a centralized group primarily responsible for the management and development of risk based maintenance programs that maximize the integrity and safety of the Company’s major rotating and mechanical equipment. The Equipment Repair group is responsible for maintenance activities related to aero derivative, gas compressor, and aero assemblies.

 

What you’ll do

  • Recognize the potential in others and build a strong, competent, proactive and engaged team
  • Use active management techniques to manage staff and activities, includes providing your team with valuable performance feedback, appropriate rewards and recognition and coaching
  • Staff development and succession planning for your team
  • Work with stakeholders, identify expectations and ensure expectations are met and/or exceeded
  • Search out opportunities to expand technical service offerings within the organization
  • Be a champion for continuous change and improvement, and work collaboratively with other project groups to share best practices
  • Manage GPMC and OM&A budgets

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in engineering or technical diploma
  • Engineers must be registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or equivalent governing body
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience
  • An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills with diverse work groups
  • Ability to apply business principles to identify and justify solutions
  • Ability to create and sustain critical partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing environment
  • Demonstrated skills in aligning goals with strategic direction and achieving targeted business results
  • Ability to make and coach others in sound engineering decision making and project management techniques
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to develop solutions, recommend improvements and identify issues

  • have and maintain a valid driver's license
