The opportunity

The Mechanical Technician requires the technical skills to ensure all mechanical systems and equipment are effectively maintained in accordance with TC Energy standards of performance, policies, and procedures. A fully certified heavy-duty mechanic and/or Journeyman millwright with a minimum of 5 years of industry relevant experience is an asset, apprentices with appropriate experience may be considered. This position is overtime eligible and after-hours emergency support may be required. Some travel will be required to other company locations for project support, temporary assignments, meetings or training. This position is based out of Airdrie Alberta and will report to the Battle River (Stettler AB) Area Manager.
 
What you'll do

In addition to maintaining core operational task qualifications and having the ability to competently and effectively perform the duties assigned, the Mechanical Technician will:
·Perform mechanical maintenance and inspection on aero derivative/industrial gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, perform bore scope inspections, auxiliary power units APU's, pumps, air compressors and other associated equipment used in natural gas compression;
·Responsible to participate in mechanical inspections, overhauls and PM in the Rocky Mountain Region and to complete Job Quality Assurance documents JQA's, work authorization/job safety analysis along with other electronic documentation;
·Adhere to all of TC Energy Operating Procedures (TOPS);
·Support other Operating Areas within the Rocky Mountain Region as required;
·Troubleshoot equipment problems utilizing technical reference manuals and documents;
·Supervise and coordinate third party contractors;
·Maintain strict adherence to Commercial Vehicle Regulations
·Other tasks as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications

·Journeyman Millwright and/or Heavy-Duty mechanic certification;
·6 or more years experience as a Journeyman Millwright and/or Heavy-Duty mechanic;
·Highly motivated with interpersonal skills to effectively work in a collaborative team environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, support team and company objectives, and a willingness to work in all areas required by the team;
·Thorough understanding of safety practices, possessing a clean safety record;
·Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills;
·Strong written and verbal communication skills.
·Microsoft office and PC skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications
·Safety training would be considered an asset;
·Previous Oil and Gas industry experience.
 
*This position requires candidates to:
·Have and maintain a valid driver's license;
·Provide a driver's abstract for review;
·Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
