We have several positions available for permanent hire where you will move through 2-4 different rotations over the course of 3-4 years on your journey to become a PEng.

Our EITs work on the development of the Millennium and North Steepbank mines which combined, produce over 1 million tonnes per day. Our operation is innovative, and ever changing with initiatives such as autonomous haulage and Permanent Aquatic Storage Structure (PASS) tailings treatment technology leading the way into the future. You will use your expertise to:

  • Perform tasks ranging from crafting a quarterly rolling plan for the mine operations group to breaking the quarterly plan into weekly tasks
  • Provide the yearly budget outlook for the mine
  • Plan for our tailings operations which is split between mining and processing in concept
  • Plan for the reclamation and sustainability of our operations
  • Assist in project management for large operating projects such as large earth dams, road construction or civil construction projects which require strict budgeting and timelines
  • Take on technical work in dispatch, reporting, optimizing, field studies for growing efficiency and continuing the feedback loop with operations
  • Provide technical planning for our autonomous operation

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • A Bachelor’s of Science or Bachelor’s of Engineering degree in Mining, Civil, Geological or Environmental
  • Be eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential to transition to shift based work depending on business needs
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
