We have an exciting opportunity for a Capital Specialist to join our dynamic mine maintenance and reliability (M&R) team in Fort McMurray. In this role you will take ownership of the mine M&R capital planning process and the capital project coordination process. These processes require extensive collaboration with several cross-functional teams, vendors and original equipment manufacturers that will ensure accurate and smooth capital planning and capital project execution.

You will use your expertise to:

• Support the M&R management team in their capital planning development strategies during the long range planning and budget process, and coordinate the M&R capital project execution based on the ADEM gated process
• Provide timely information that enables the area cross-functional team to be successful in their capital replacement and procurement initiatives
• Collaborate with all partners to maximize and improve capital benefits
• Develop, manage, and publish the capital justification and capital plan as part of long range planning and budget process
• Coordinate all capital projects and publish management reports

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

• Five years of experience working in the oil and gas or similar industry
• Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional groups
• Strong knowledge of the capital planning, project management and project controls processes using a gated approach
• Experience in contract and procurement management
• Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Office suite and modeling /SQL work
• A degree in engineering and/or business management

Preference for:

• Experience in mine M&R capital planning and/or management with a deep understanding of contracts and contract terminology
• Project management experience
• Knowledge and understanding of the oil sands processes and economics, and supply chain principles
• You have a demonstrated ability to use a wide range of influencing techniques to affect positive change, influence and negotiate with project partners and challenge constraints and assumptions
• You are results oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
• The demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interact across a multitude of business units to develop and build strong positive working relationships

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

• You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
• If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
