The Department of Political Science at McMaster University invites applications for a one-year contractually limited appointment (CLA), in the area of Canadian politics and public policy. The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, and will commence July 1, 2019.

The appointee will be expected to teach a total of seven one-term courses. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in the undergraduate program, in a combination of the following courses (depending on background experience): Canadian Democracy; Political Communication; Ethnicity & Multiculturalism; Issues in Canadian Politics; Topics in Law & Policy; Urban Politics; Canadian Foreign Policy; Policy Analysis & Implementation; Public Opinion & Policy. The appointee will also have the opportunity to play an active role in the administrative life of the Department.   

The successful candidate will have earned a PhD degree in Political Science or a related discipline by the date of appointment, or shortly thereafter. They will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the university level. They will also have an active research program as demonstrated by an established or emerging record of refereed publications or forthcoming publications, conference presentations, grants and awards. 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A package of benefits as well as a professional development allowance will also be provided.
