| 2 custom tailors needed on an urgent basis at a busy south-Asian clothing boutique store Job Location: 3601 Lawrence Avenue East Unit 11, Scarborough, ON M1G 1P5 Job type: permanent, full time job with flexible working hours, including weekends Job responsibilities include: - Fit and study garments on customers to determine required alterations using tape measure - Sew clothing using needles, thread and/or sewing machine - Work with embroidery, sewing beads, laces, stones and other decorative ornaments that go on the traditional south asian clothing - Design different patterns to client’s liking and alter it accordingly - Remove stitches from garments to be altered, using rippers and/or razor blades - Prepare unique sample clothing to display in the store - Sew in buttons and button holes when needed - Fit, alter, repair and make made-to-measure clothing according to customer’s specifications - Estimate the cost of the clothing to prepare based on factors such as time and material requirements - Put in padding and shaping materials when needed - Mark, cut and sew fabric while also have knowledge on altering and repairing the clothing as required The ideal candidate must have knowledge in south-Asian clothing and its styles. They should be able to operate sewing machine and a press in a smooth manner; have knowledge on all different types of fabric sold. The candidate must have knowledge on sewing pockets, zippers, buttons, beads and etc. The candidate must be an expert and specialized in all aspects of sewing and alterations. The candidate must also have knowledge on the latest popular designs and trends in market. | |
