Etalk is looking for freelance writers who have their finger on the pulse of pop culture and a passion for all things celebrity. We’re looking for contributors who are well-versed in the conversations happening online surrounding the latest entertainment headlines and need-to-know trends as well as the must-read stories affecting the world of pop culture and beyond.

The ideal candidates know how to celebrate all things entertainment while balancing that passion with an authoritative awareness of the bigger picture. From daily news posts to long-lead features, entertainment guides, best-of lists, episodic recaps and original pitches, we want to hear from you about how you can add to our offerings on etalk.ca and help us tell entertainment stories that are important to all Canadians.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Contribute to Etalk.ca by pitching and writing well-researched, timely, inclusive entertainment content
Leverage social media, viral trends and of-the-moment conversations happening online to pitch must-read stories for digital
Use deep knowledge of pop culture to craft accurate, engaging copy that requires minimal edits
As a passionate consumer of all things entertainment, use awareness of the next big thing to pitch stories on less-established voices and amplify voices we should be hearing from and stories we need to be telling
Work with editors on any necessary rewrites or clarifications

Critical Qualifications and Competencies:

Established experience as a writer (digital, print, etc.)
Post-secondary education in Journalism /Film Studies/Communications
In-depth knowledge of pop culture
Top-notch spelling, grammar and research skills
Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills- both oral and written.
Ability to work in a team and be self motivated.
Working knowledge of Wordpress and Photoshop considered an asset
Good understanding of journalistic ethics is essential

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
