|Coquitlam School District invites applications from individuals for the position of Youth Worker – Indigenous Education (temporary). As the third largest school district in the province we are located within a 40-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. The school district has a population of 32,000 students with approximately 4,300 teaching, administrative, managerial and support staff.|
Working under the direction of administrator/designate, the youth worker implements and promotes individualized and/or group programs in First Nations studies under the direction of the teacher.
Required knowledge and Skills:
• Completion of a two-year post-secondary education diploma in child/youth care from a recognized college/institution or
• Completion of two years of university course work in Psychology or Sociology.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
• A thorough knowledge of First Nations cultures, traditions and values demonstrated through Indigenous Ancestry.
The successful applicant will be a person of Indigenous ancestry in accordance with an approved special program under Section 42(3) of the British Columbia Human Rights Code.
This is a unionized position which offers $29.36/hour (37.5 hours/week while school is in session), plus 16% in lieu of benefits.
