| Hourigan's Carpets & Linos Ltd. is looking for a Floor Covering Installer with at least 3 years' experience in the trade. The position is for 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) with occasional weekend work. Work requires heavy lifting (200 pounds). The successful candidate must be dependable, work well on a team, and interact professionally with customers. Duties include the following: • Inspect, measure, and prepare floor areas to be covered in residential and commercial settings. • Measure, cut and install underlay, carpet, vinyl sheets or planks, and tiles using required bonding materials. • Stretch carpeting and secure it to floor surfaces using a staple gun or other tools. • Measure, cut, and install vinyl floor covering using adhesive, rollers, and other hand tools. • Mix, apply and spread tile adhesives using a hand trowel. • Cut tiles to fit around obstacles or openings using hand and power cutting tools. • Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them, ensuring they are correctly aligned. • Pack grout into joints and remove excess. • Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. • May estimate material and labour costs. • Perform related tasks as required. | |
