Description
The Laboratory at Nanticoke Refinery operates 24 hours per day/ 7 days a week. As a Lab Technician you will join our team, reporting to the Lab Supervisor and follow a rotating shift schedule. Our technicians operate equipment in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner in accordance with refinery practices and procedures.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
• Conducting laboratory testing in accordance with quality standards.
• Qualifying and releasing manufactured products.
• Conducting field testing and sampling.
• Conducting analysis and interpretation of data in support of operations.
• Supporting product development through testing analysis.
• Managing specific areas of work and projects.
• Documenting and communicating results
• Developing operating/testing procedures based on industry standards
• Successfully completing the Laboratory Progression requirements.

In this position you will be working with various departments within the refinery, including operations and technical, and have the opportunity to learn from experienced technicians. Education Requirements• Secondary School Diploma or equivalency is required
• Successful completion in one of the following programs (listed in order of preference):
o Chemical Engineering Technologist
o Environmental Technologist
o Science Laboratory Technologist
o Chemical Laboratory Technologist
Experience• A valid Ontario driver’s license and safe driver abstract is required for this position.
• Two years or more of relevant manufacturing laboratory experience. Preference will be given to applicants with direct industry laboratory experience.
• Familiarity with statistical control practices.
• Strong commitment to safety on and off the job.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication with the ability to work in a team environment.
• Sound reasoning ability with a high level of self-initiative and a desire to learn.
• Knowledge and skills with computer applications – MS Office.
