Duties: Red River College is seeking a Research Assistant in Culinary Research to support industry driven applied research initiatives associated with the new Culinary Technology Access Centre. Reporting to the Research Manager of RRC's Prairie Research Kitchen, the incumbent will be responsible for carrying out food product and food service preparation activities as part of a research team. This will include conducting product cooking trials, sample preparation, recipe development, documentation, product showcases and trade show activities. Other duties may include inventory management, food styling and product photography.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Culinary Arts or Professional Baking; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of food trends in food service and consumer products.
- Experience in recipe development or modification.
- Demonstrated experience with standard culinary tools and equipment.
- Ability to undertake multiple tasks with limited supervision.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in group settings.
- Ability to use Excel worksheets
- Excellent written communication skills
- Food Handlers certificate

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity or experience working within a food research team
- Food photography experience
- Food styling experience

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
- This position may be required to travel
