| The Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Gender, Sexuality and Trans Studies in Curriculum and Pedagogy. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2022 or shortly thereafter. Candidates must have earned a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Education or a humanities or social sciences discipline related to Gender, Sexuality and Trans Studies by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in gender, sexuality and trans studies as they intersect with education. We seek applicants whose expertise and interests complement and enhance existing research and teaching strengths in CTL’s Curriculum and Pedagogy (C&P) program, in particular its emphases on Critical Studies in Curriculum and Pedagogy and Indigenous Education and Decolonization. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in critical approaches to curriculum studies, strong knowledge of decolonial or qualitative research methods in education, and have a strong background in educational theory and/or critical pedagogical practice. A focus in any of the following additional areas would be considered an asset: Two-Spirit or queer studies; decolonial or intersectional analyses of Indigeneity and race; critiques of Anti-Black and Anti-Indigenous racism; transnational or comparative perspectives in education, curriculum and schooling. Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing. Candidates must demonstrate an emerging program of research of sufficient quality for them to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses and supervise students in C&P graduate degree programs (MA, MEd, and PhD). The ability to contribute to other OISE programs, or collaborative specializations in which C&P participates, would be an asset. The successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all of our students and foster an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates diversity and differences. Other responsibilities of the position include service to CTL and to OISE, and it is expected that the successful candidate will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings. Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level is required, and will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) submitted with the application, as well as strong letters of reference. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
