The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy / BC Parks has created the 2019 BC Parks Student Ranger Program to promote outdoor youth employment opportunities across the province.

For the 2019 season, the BC Parks Student Ranger Program will see 48 students employed in BC Parks across the province from May to August. Eligible candidates for the 2019 season are Canadian Residents between the ages of 18 and 30, currently enrolled in full-time studies and who intend to return to full-time studies in the next academic year. BC Parks encourages students from Indigenous backgrounds to apply for these positions.

What to expect:

Crew Leads and Crew Members can expect to be out in the field nearly all working days, participating in various projects. Scheduled days and hours of work will very across regional offices, with the expectation that Crews will work weekends. Applicants should expect to camp on numerous occasions during the work time in the front and back-country and to perform physically challenging work. More information on work schedules, hours of work and specific projects will be provided to applicants at the interview stage of this competition.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year with the intention of returning to full-time studies in the next academic year [in or outside of Canada];
• Between 18 - 30 years of age;
• Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada;
• Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations;
• Must attend a Program Training event near Cultus Lake from May 26-May 31, 2019. Details on this training will be provided at the offer of employment;
• Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act [CRRA] check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry.
