Office of the Vice-President (Finance and Operations) – Guelph, ON

It is within this unique and exciting context that the University is seeking an outstanding financial leader who, as the next Associate Vice-President (AVP), Financial Services, will take on a broad finance portfolio within an institution that has been included in the Forbes list of Canada’s Best Employers since 2016, and as Canada’s Top Ranked University among Employers in 2021.

Reporting to the Vice-President (Finance and Operations), you will be responsible for managing the University’s core business processes, including treasury and investment operations, controllership, procurement and payment services, as well as financial services in support of researchers. As AVP, you will work closely and collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Research and Planning in its preparation of the University’s operating budget, and with all colleges and divisions to provide sound financial operational support, ensuring consistency across the institution. Leading a collegial team of finance professionals, you are an inspirational leader who creates an environment that fosters creativity and innovation.

As the ideal candidate for this opportunity, you have an advanced degree coupled with a financial designation and several years of progressive senior financial and leadership experience within a public sector organization. You are a strategic decision-maker and change leader, having led concurrent complex and dynamic finance projects. As an experienced spokesperson for finance to both internal and external audiences, you understand the importance of partnership, consultation and collaboration. As a leader, you maximize talent, develop emerging talent and emulate strong emotional intelligence in your leadership and management at all levels of the organization.

While the position is regularly performed on-campus, it will be initially fulfilled remotely (off-campus) until the University resumes regular operations in accordance with Public Health guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
