Role Overview
McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. has an opportunity for a Civil/Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in water and wastewater treatment design. In this role, you will plan and develop pre-design reports and perform detailed design associated with a variety of medium to large size projects pertaining to water/wastewater facilities. This role will require strategic effort to continue to build and grow our services in the Vancouver Island marketplace. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with major clients, along with our highly experienced, Senior Process Engineering Team. Responsibilities:
• Work with project managers to accomplish various tasks associated with various municipal water and wastewater projects
• Assist with the analysis, design, and commissioning of water and wastewater collection and distribution systems, water and wastewater treatment plants and other water and wastewater related facilities engineering assignments
• Process and project mechanical design, hydraulic analysis and calculations, equipment sizing and selection, equipment commissioning
• Project engineering including, cost estimating, technical specifications and contract documentation;
• Design of water and wastewater treatment plants and other relevant process units.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• Registered as Professional Engineer with APEGBC or eligible to obtain is required
• 7-10 years’ experience specializing in water and wastewater treatment process mechanical equipment
• Familiarity with Southern Vancouver Island is an asset, with desire to relocate
• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills;
• Must be able to develop and read drawings including process PFD's, PID's, site plans and general arrangement drawings, etc.;
• Comprehensive understanding of hydraulics including development of pump curves;
• Solid writing skills for proposal development;
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience with the following:
o Wastewater collection and conveyance system
o Pump systems and force mains including pump sizing and selection
o Wastewater treatment facilities engineering
o Blower sizing and selection
o Pipe selection and sizing (liquid and air)
o Site grading
