Description
The Senior Advisor, Sustainability, Data and Reporting, is part of the Sustainability and Diversity team in BDC's Strategy and Impact Unit. The role is responsible for the preparation of the annual ESG Report and other sustainability-related disclosures in alignment with reporting frameworks such as Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

The incumbent will develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholder groups to ensure awareness of relevant regulatory requirements and current sustainability disclosure trends. He/she will engage key internal and external stakeholders including ESG raters and rankers to support BDC's sustainability reporting and communication.

This position requires a deep understanding of sustainability, including the interactions among economic, social, and environmental issues.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Accountable for the development and production of BDC's Annual ESG report and any other environmentally related or social impact-related report(s) in accordance with approved ESG reporting standards and frameworks
Monitor current and emerging sustainability reporting and disclosure standards, requirements and regulations (e.g. ISSB General Sustainability, Climate-related, and industry-specific disclosures, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) guidance on climate risk management & disclosure) and incorporate new methodologies and requirements into current reporting practices

- Apply appropriate sustainability measurement frameworks to BDC's data gathering, impact tracking and reporting
-Support the development, alignment, and tracking of corporate sustainability metrics
-Coordinate with a wide variety of internal stakeholders to gather data for annual reporting and disclosures
-Complete external sustainability/ESG surveys Conduct a periodic materiality assessment of the ESG issues most relevant to BDC
-Track and report on Sustainability performance KPIs for internal program management, and external reporting
-Develop/maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across BDC's business and functional units
-Prepare and deliver training on ESG reporting when required

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
-Bachelor's degree in Business, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
-At least 5 years of professional experience in ESG and Sustainability reporting in financial services, industry, consulting, or the non-profit sector
-Knowledge of sustainability standards, tools, and reporting mechanisms (ex. UN Sustainable Development Goals, GHG Protocol, CDP, GRI, SASB, etc.), and emerging practices (ex. FSB TCFD, etc.)
-Familiarity with ESG ratings (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS) is preferred but not necessary
-Strong data analytics and visualization skills, comfortable working with large datasets, both in Excel and beyond
-Excellent project management skills
-Effective written and verbal communication skills, and good presentation skills. Fluency in both official languages (English & French), an asset.
- Experience working in a matrix organization would be highly valuable
