Description
Founded in 1985, Habitat for Humanity Canada is a national, charitable organization working toward a world where everyone has a decent and affordable place to call home. Habitat for Humanity brings communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership. With the help of volunteers, Habitat homeowners and 54 local Habitats working in every province and territory, Habitat for Humanity provides a solid foundation for better, healthier lives in Canada and around the world. Habitat for Humanity Canada is a member of Habitat for Humanity International, which was established in 1976 and has grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 70 countries.

Habitat Canada has an ambitious strategic goal of significantly increasing the number of families it serves annually through its affordable homeownership program over the upcoming years and seeks a new President and Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization in achieving this, and other, goals.

Reporting to the National Board of Directors, the President & CEO will provide leadership and strategic direction to Habitat Canada for federation strategic planning; operational programs like Habitat Global Village, fund and gift-in-kind development; marketing and communications; external partnerships; government relations, affiliate engagement, and Habitat for Humanity International. Additionally, the President & CEO will assist the Board of Directors in fulfilling its policy and governance function and provide consistent leadership to further the achievement of the organization's Mission, Vision and Values. Working with a strong and dedicated senior leadership team, the President & CEO will build upon Habitat Canada’s well-established reputation to cultivate a culture within both the National Office and across the entire Federation with the energy and passion to embrace and reach its ambitious goals. In support of these goals, the President & CEO will be tasked with creating, leading and delivering a strategic plan for the Habitat for Humanity Federation, which will define a vision and role for the national office, establishing a plan to implement that vision and role, and create a system of metrics to monitor and communicate progress towards achieving the vision and role.

The ideal candidate has a proven and successful tenure in senior executive roles, experience leading organizations through growth and evolution, and adept external relation skills which enable you to passionately articulate the importance of affordable housing to audiences both large or small, urban or rural, and corporate, government or philanthropic. You must have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of best practices in good governance, financial management, donor stewardship, change management and organizational strategy. You have insights and have an understanding of the non-profit sector through your tenure as an executive or as an active Board member. You have demonstrated experience creating and maintaining a culture that embodies an organization’s ethics, values and vision in a creative, results-driven and highly collaborative way. Your experience growing revenue, ideally through philanthropic donations and government grants, will be considered a strong asset. You align with the values of Habitat for Humanity, and have a strong commitment to finding solutions through partnerships.
