A unique opportunity to apply your financial expertise in this exciting role

The Public Guardian and Trustee (“PGT”) of British Columbia is a corporation sole, created under the Public Guardian and Trustee Act which operates independently under provincial legislation to protect the legal and financial interests of children under the age of 19 years; protect the legal, financial, and in some cases personal and health care interests of adults who require assistance in decision making; and administer the estates of deceased and missing persons.

The Client Services Section delivers direct services to vulnerable adults such as Committee of Person, Committee of Estate, power of attorney and trusteeships. In all these capacities, Client Services discharges the Public Guardian and Trustee of BC's duties as a substitute decision maker in the context of a philosophy of service which envisions that a decision made on behalf of a vulnerable adult must closely approximate the decision the adult would want to make for himself. The Section prepares a case management plan for each client who reflects the client's personal history and cultural, religious, ethnic and family background, as well as the clients' current financial, legal, and personal circumstances.

As the Regional Financial Officer, you will provide budget and accounting services, including expert advisory services and policy and procedures development specifically related to clients’ personal finances.

The BC Public Service is an award winning employer and offers employees competitive benefits, amazing learning opportunities and a chance to engage in rewarding work with exciting career development opportunities. For more information, please see What We Offer.
