Job requirements
Education: Completion of a two or three-year college program in electrical or electronics engineering technology, computer engineering technology, telecommunications technology or an equivalent. Completion of an engineering diploma or degree program will be a preference.
Experience: 5 years

Specific Skills:
• Protection Control and SCADA
o Design of Protection schemes for Greenfield and Brownfield sites. This includes relaying design for high voltage and medium voltage lines, transformers, buses and feeders etc.
o Development of protection relay settings for power system relaying schemes e.g. line protection (step distance, differential), transformer and bus differential schemes, feeder protection schemes. This includes familiarity with programming of SEL and GE relays.
o Development of test plans and testing of protection relays using Omicron test sets to validate relay design settings.
o Familiar with using power simulation software (eg. ETAP, PSSE etc.)
o Development of SCADA design for transmission and distribution substations
o Strong understanding of programing and configuration of SCADA devices. This includes GE RTUs (D20s, D25s etc.), SEL I/Os and controllers.
o Configuration and programming of local substation HMIs.
o Development of test plans and performing testing of SCADA devices.
• Relay and I/O Module/Panel Wiring
o Assembly and wiring of relay and I/O devices in modules and panels for site installation.
• Overhead Power Line Design
o Strong working knowledge of PLSCAD for modeling of powerlines.
o Ability to develop models of transmission and distribution structures in PLS Pole.
o Experience in supporting the development of engineering work packages and material requisitions required for construction of power lines.
• Telecommunication design for power substations.
o Design of telecommunication architectures in substations to allow for SCADA and teleprotection communication traffic.
o This includes UHF, Microwave and Fiber optic design. Familiarity of Nokia multiplexers, Network LANs, Radios etc. is required.
• Commissioning support
o Development of commissioning test plans that identify all test required for installation of electrical equipment in Greenfield and Brownfield sites to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of these equipment.
o Review and approval of electrical equipment test results (Transformers, Breakers, Cables, Switchgears, MCCs etc.)
o Provide home office technical support for field installation and commissioning personnel.
