Senior Advisor, First Nations Relations
$75,454.69 - $96,020.36 annually

The Senior Advisor, First Nations Relations examines controversial issues and proposals with high economic value, high risk for legal challenges or high political impacts. The issues and proposals regard the use of natural resources on public land and the impact on First Nations identified Indigenous interests. This position carries out consultations and negotiations to address First Nations' concerns while minimizing negative impacts on provincial revenues. The Senior Advisor, First Nations Relations is a recommending authority to Ministry Executive on whether these projects should proceed.

Qualifications for this role include:
- Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e. Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists BC (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia)).
- Experience in participating in consultations/negotiations with First Nations.
- Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
- Experience in policy development and implementation.
