Area Vehicle Inspector
Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement programs in each of the three (3) regions provides enforcement through delivery of six acts and regulations designed to improve vehicle and driver fitness and the protection of the highway infrastructure. The effectiveness of our educational, enforcement, monitoring and inspection programs motivates and facilitates safe operators, thereby securing safer highways for British Columbians.
As a mobile Enforcement Officer, independently monitors and inspects vehicles, loads, licences, insurance, drivers and carriers to ensure the protection of the highway infrastructure and public safety through enforcement and education, pertaining to the Motor Vehicle Act, Commercial Transport Act, Dangerous Goods Act, Motor Fuel Tax Act, Transportation Act, Motor Carrier Act and all pursuant regulations, programs and standards. This position has an increased emphasis on inspecting and certifying school buses for safety and on auditing inspection facilities for compliance with programs and procedures. This position operates with a functional job title of Motor Vehicle Inspector for the purposes of enforcement authorities.

Qualifications for this role include:
- Secondary School graduation or equivalent, and/ or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Certified Journeyman Mechanic
- Valid BC Class 5 (or equivalent) Driver's licence in good standing with no more than 9 points in the last five year period
