The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre is a program of Provincial Services Division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The Maples is a designated provincial mental health facility providing ‘On-site’, and community-based programming as well as outreach and ancillary services to collaboratively support youth, families and their communities. The Maples consists of troubled youth in British Columbia with significant psychiatric and behavioural difficulties, ages 12 to 17, as well as youth found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or unfit to stand trial. Additional services include community consultation service, training/capacity building opportunities and ongoing sharing of current literature. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, our objective is to collaboratively work with families and communities to plan and care for youth through a closer to home focus.

The Child Care Counsellor, as part of the multi-disciplinary team, is responsible for providing assessment, care planning, treatment, discharge and community services for severely thought disordered or conduct disordered youths admitted to the Centre, in accordance with established principles and guidelines of practice. You also perform various administrative duties which support program objectives; and other related duties as required. This role requires sound judgement and excellent organizational abilities.

Qualifications for this role include:
• Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university in behavioral sciences or a psychiatric nursing degree.
• Minimum 6 months continuous recent experience in group home or institution/ treatment centre setting.
• Must possess and maintain unrestricted valid BC Class 5 driver’s license.
