This position will report to the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Manager. The QA Engineer role supports all aspects of sustaining quality throughout the product life cycle through the application of quality engineering skills. We are looking for a positive and team-oriented individual to join our dynamic QHSE team and will be responsible for determining customer requirements on assigned programs as well as communicating customer requirements and standards within the organization and also supporting the company's quality management system (QMS). In this role you will be an integral part of the APQP team, supporting the development and launch of new product and processes. Working with internal and external stakeholders. Job Description: - Responsible for the organization, co-ordination, and direction of all quality related activities in accordance with customer requirements and the company Quality Program. - Oversee the product manufacturing processes to ensure quality by supervising development of PFMEA and control plans through mistake proofing the critical failure modes. - Review products, processes, and systems on an ongoing basis to determine where improvements can be made. - Supervise the activities of all Quality Inspectors, Receiving Inspection and Supplier Quality Assurance. - Review the Non-conformance Reports and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. - Work closely with all Internal Departments, Suppliers, and all Customers to ensure problem prevention and resolution. - Responsible for the evaluation of statistical techniques and gather process relevant crucial data and develop techniques to reduce drift and control various processes. - Assist the development and maintenance of advanced quality plans such as cost of quality programs to improve and reduce the cost of poor quality. - Responsible for improved methods to move current quality objectives to the next level of performance. - Determine quality metrics for all manufacturing procedures and Processes. - Monitor the entire production cycle and perform regular inspections to identify potential malfunctions as early as possible. - Prepare reports on defects trend analysis and propose corrective actions. - Coordinate and manage the continual improvement process utilizing structured problem solving within the corrective and preventive action processes. - Develop Quality Inspection Strategy by incorporating the Control Plan into the Manufacturing Inspection Reports and data collection for analysis. - Conduct process capability analyses to evaluate manufacturing process performance compared to customer requirements. - Monitor and trend daily/weekly key quality metrics to communicate issues to Operations, Technology, Maintenance and Quality and Work with team/department in troubleshooting and resolving problems relating to quality control aspects, including Root Cause Analysis investigation of all Non-Conformances. - Ability to work with senior management team and implement their vision. - Mentor and coach the quality department to bring all resources to the level of knowledge required to effectively support the APQP and plant performance requirements. Job Qualifications: Education - Successful completion of bachelor's degree in Engineering, with major in Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent Experience - Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing / Quality / Process Engineer Position - 1-2 years' experience with GD&T - 3-5 years' experience with problem solving/root cause analysis - 3-5 years' experience using the statistical tools Considered an Asset - American Society for Quality (ASQ) certificate - Certified Quality Professional Skills and Abilities - Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail - Ability to adapt to changing demands of production from customers and team member issues - Actively listen to fellow team members about concerns or issues that arise - Ability to effectively manage a small group of professionals to achieve shared and personal goals - Strong interpersonal skills: able to speak in front of groups of people, and ability to effectively communicate information with varying levels of individuals (both team members and management groups) - Ability to show versatility and resourcefulness when problem solving - Ability to organize priorities based on deadlines and importance of tasks - Manage time efficiently while working on several different tasks at once GN Corporations Inc. is a proud Alberta corporation, in operation for over 50 years headquartered at 2873 Kingsview Blvd SE, Airdrie, Alberta, T4A 0E1, Canada.
