Position Location: Notre Dame Campus (Winnipeg, MB)

Full-Time, Term Position Available
Anticipated January 6, 2020 up to March 31, 2021
Possibility of an Extension to March 31, 2022

Duties: Reporting to the Research Manager, Research Partnerships & Innovation, the position will support applied research and development activities within the Vehicle Technology & Energy Centre (VTEC) – an NSERC Innovation Enhancement program. The Research Technologist (Electronics) will be carrying out applied research and development activities related to vehicle development and vehicle performance. Projects may include electric vehicle battery repurposing, vehicle electrification and related sensor applications that enables autonomous driving. In addition, assistance and support to activities in Motivelab - RRC's newest climatic chamber with built-in dynamometer. The incumbent will be working in a team environment with Research Professionals, industry partners, instructors, staff and students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Solid experience and knowledge in the following areas: electric vehicles research, alternative energy (i.e. battery technology, charging infrastructure) and CAN bus technology.
- Industry experience in manufacturing, hardware design and/or product engineering
- Experience working in applied research and development within a College environment
- Knowledge in project and research management
- Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project
- Strong written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills including verbal communication
- Ability to undertake multiple tasks with limited supervision

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of the College applied research enterprise
- Experience in data collection and statistical analysis

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
