The Senior Policy Analyst, Regulatory Affairs and Municipal Engagement, delivers program management and implementation support for key corporate initiatives. This position provides front line leadership, expertise and professional acumen in managing programs or services in sectors of strategic focus. The incumbent is responsible to develop and manage stakeholder engagement strategies and to provide strategic, policy and regulatory advice in addressing stakeholder objectives and needs. This position will interact and consult regularly with internal parties and stakeholders to drive the development and implementation of strategic initiatives. Key results include harmonization of standards across Canadian federal, provincial and municipal jurisdictions to achieve national consistency in standards referenced in regulations; enhanced contribution to the health and safety of Canadians, support to innovation and economic growth.

Job Summary and Key Activities:
- Researches and analyzes a variety of social, economic, regulatory, standardization or trade-related topics to enhance the capacity of SCC to provide value-added analysis, advice and services to private and public sector stakeholders.
- Prepares background materials and develops proposed action strategies to advance sector interests relative to identified trends and emerging issues.
- Leads programs to engage targeted stakeholders, including industry and government representatives, with particular focus on sustaining relationships, enabling and promoting their use of, and involvement in standardization.
- Supports the Manager, Regulatory Affairs, in leading SCC’s engagement with Municipalities that requires cross-functional engagement with internal parties, and with external stakeholders, as appropriate.
- Prepares and implements project plans to deliver programs and services, including the review and/or development of business cases; business requirements; and cross-functional integration activities.
- Applies project management principles in order to appropriately analyze, cost, and plan when leading activities (from either conceptual design or in execution) in support of various team projects and programs or services.
- Provides expert advice in the negotiation of agreements with stakeholders to define the parameters and deliverables of action and endeavors with private and public sector stakeholders.
- As assigned from time to time, represents SCC in public safety regulatory advisory committees.
- Works closely with members of other branches either informally or formally on multi-disciplinary project teams to promote and pursue pertinent standardization objectives and to ensure consistent standardization policies.
- Participates on collaborative work teams whose tasks and objectives may change based on organizational priorities. Accommodates the specific roles and accountabilities that are determined and assigned by the team leads, utilizing their skills in policy analysis, research and development, communications and stakeholder engagement to enhance and support the objectives of the team.
- Leads collaborative work teams through direction-setting and planning of work items and tasks associated with initiatives assigned to their team(s). This includes providing coaching and guidance to less experienced team members and colleagues, and taking accountability for the accuracy and relevance of deliverables to stakeholders.
Salary$79,300 - $99,000
CredentialsAsset Credentials:
-Professional designation related to standards or a related technical subject
Education RequirementsPost-secondary education in science, engineering, business administration, political science or equivalent discipline
Experience- Experience facilitating multi-stakeholder technical or policy-setting groups or committees
- Proven skills and experience in: project management, research, strategic-thinking, report writing
- Experience related to standardization, strategic policy and/or stakeholder relations
- Progressive experience in direct management of operations, processes, personnel and projects

Asset Experience
- Experience working with multi-stakeholder policy committees on the national or international level
- Experience working with provincial, territorial and/or municipal policy makers and/or regulatory groups
