Engineering Technologist

The North Island - Central Coast Natural Resource District is seeking an experienced engineering technologist to join our District team. Situated on the Northern tip of Vancouver Island, Port McNeill is an affordable and family-oriented community. The office is regularly recognized as a Top 10 Workplace within the BC Public Service and is staffed with a team of dedicated forest professionals tasked with managing a diverse suite of natural resource values in a geographically large and unique area. The community of Port McNeill also serves as a gateway to endless outdoor adventures.

As and Engineering Technologist with our District team, you will provide technical expertise and conduct analysis and interpretation using engineering principles to draw conclusions, make recommendations, and prepare reports. You will carry out administrative duties related to permitting and authorizations for forest roads and related tenures. You will perform road and bridge inspections inclusive of annual planning for maintenance and inspections. You will also be responding to emergency responses to public safety and environmental liabilities and explaining technical issues to a variety of audiences. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to prepare and/or negotiate contracts, monitor performance in the field, and act as a qualified receiver while supporting all other teams within the Port McNeill office as well as supporting and working with BC Timber Sales when needed.

Qualifications for this role include:
- Diploma in forest engineering or related natural resource field.
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals (ABCFP). Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the ABCFP within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Recent experience (within the last 3 years) performing technical natural resource-related duties.
- Basic knowledge of natural resource management and related acts and regulations.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.
Salary$56,032.51 - $63,565.27 annually, plus a $38.87 bi-weekly isolation allowance
