| The Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto invites applications for a tenure stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a specialization in Neuropsychology, Resilience and Student Well-Being. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2019. We seek applicants who have a strong research focus as well as practical expertise in the areas of neuropsychology, learning disabilities and student well-being. Applicants should have an established research focus in one or more of the following areas: school-based prevention and intervention, cognitive, biological, or environmental risks for learning difficulties or poor school achievement; assessment and consultation within schools; accessibility for students with mental health issues, educational/school policy related to mental health; typical or atypical learning and adjustment in school and learning environments; developmental disabilities; autism spectrum disorders; ADHD; and other issues relevant to the intersection of mental health and learning/schooling. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a related field of psychology or education by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter. The successful candidate will be a scholar/educator with the skills and background needed to advance the theoretical and practical understanding of the links between mental health problems and learning challenges with a view to promoting the well-being of students in the education system. He/she should be familiar with school systems and conduct research or engage in knowledge mobilization that is relevant to schools and communities. Candidates are expected to have an emerging record of excellence in research as demonstrated by high-quality publications in top disciplinary journals, an ongoing program of research of sufficient quality to develop into an independent, externally funded research program, presentations at significant conferences, research awards, and strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level is also required, as demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (including a statement of teaching philosophy, sample course syllabi, and teaching evaluations) submitted as part of the application, and strong letters of reference. Candidates should also demonstrate a capacity for collegial and administrative service, preferably by providing evidence of the development of policies, processes, and/or resources for the effective functioning of administrative systems within an academic environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of both core and interdisciplinary curricula within and across programs offered in the Department of Applied and Human Development. He/she will also contribute to the development of an innovative program of research in global mental health and education that combines areas of expertise within the department and fosters collaboration in programs and research activities locally and internationally. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
