The Compliance and Enforcement (C&E) Investigator conducts regulatory inspections under the Security Services Act (SSA), Body Armour Control Act (BACA), Metal Dealers and Recyclers Act (MDRA), and Pill Press and Related Equipment Control Act (PPRECA). In addition to SSA, BACA, MDRA, and PPRECA, the C&E Investigator also may conduct assigned investigations under the Armoured Vehicle and After-Market Compartment Control Act (AVAMCCA), Guide Dog and Service Dog Act (GDSDA), and section 23.1 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCAA).

The C&E Investigator performs inspections and investigations to identify non-compliance with the applicable legislation/regulations and takes enforcement action against non-compliant parties in accordance with operational policies and the principles of progressive enforcement. Enforcement action can include the issuance of provincial violation tickets under the Offence Act. The inspection and investigation work of this position requires extensive and frequent travel throughout their assigned region(s), and to other regions in the province to attend meetings or provide assistance where required.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Diploma, certification or equivalent in a related discipline such as criminology, administrative law, investigation and enforcement, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Two years of related work experience in the field of compliance and enforcement, including: conducting inspections to monitor compliance, investigations of non-compliance, and enforcement. Preference may be given to experience in a regulatory environment.
• Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulation, and policies.
