Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development Smithers Ecosystem Biologist $66,557.72 - $75,884.38 annually, plus $32.89 bi-weekly isolation allowance Make a difference in this rewarding career opportunity The Resource Management Division of the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development works to maintain and restore the natural diversity of ecosystems, fish and wildlife species and their habitats. Through the development and implementation of clear strategies, legislation, partnerships, innovative projects, science-based standards and effective monitoring and reporting, the Division aims to reduce the number of ecosystems and species at risk while balancing conservation of Crown land with resource access and development. As the Ecosystem Biologist, you will be working within the Skeena Ecosystem Section to help meet these objectives by developing and implementing ecosystem conservation, restoration, and enhancement projects, providing expert advice to decision makers, developing objectives, and mitigation and management strategies. You will also be developing and implementing ecosystem conservation, restoration, and enhancement projects in urban, agricultural and/or forest settings. Qualifications for this role include: • Degree in the Information technology or Information Management, or Business Administration or related field and 2 years directly related experience; or • Degree in biological sciences or equivalent. • Registered (or immediately eligible) as a Registered Professional Biologist (RP Bio) in B.C. with the College of Applied Biology within six months of employment. • Minimum five (5) years of related experience (or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience); AND, • Related experience includes any or all of the following: Field-based biological sampling. Analysis and reporting of biological data. Providing biological or management advice within a natural resource regulatory regime. | |
