Reporting to the Indigenous Health Manager, MHSU Programs, as well as the Project Board/Executive, the Regional Lead is responsible for providing system-wide leadership in regional planning for the Suicide Intervention and Prevention Project that will result in the enhanced quality improvement of suicide response and intervention services throughout British Columbia. Responsibilities include participating in a co-leadership structure with the Regional VCH MHSU team ,acting as the strategic liaison between key stakeholders across the continuum of care, leading others toward the achievement of Indigenous Health and VCH project goals through effectively communicating the organizational vision, coordinating resources, advancing priorities, and promoting collaboration and commitment. The Regional Lead supports working groups and committees and is the key point person for project objectives.

The Regional Leader informs, directs and ensures the successful development and implementation of the strategy/project goals, by engaging key stakeholders that include Executive Sponsors, Regional Program leadership, Indigenous Health Director and Manager, Medical Staff, Steering Committee members, Working Group members at all levels across the region and in other partner organizations (e.g., FNHA and other Health Authorities, the Ministry of Health and contract/affiliate agencies). The Regional Leader provides supervision, leadership, guidance, and support to designated staff and project team as required.

As a Regional Leader, Indigenous Health with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

Work closely with broad clinical operations service delivery teams and horizontal/vertical service coordinating groups across the continuum of care to translate broad goals and strategic directions into detailed program charters and plans to outline timelines and deliverables.
Execute project plans according to project management methodologies by ensuring systems and processes are in place, ensuring the organization is ready for project implementation, provides leadership to project teams responsible for implementing the project according to the agreed charter, and ensuring the successful and coordinated completion of all tasks, processes, contractual arrangements and material requirements of the project, as defined in the project charter.
Develop business cases to support the implementation of an integrated comprehensive community care system for the region. Leads work groups including writing proposals, conducting literature reviews and community searches. Monitors program progress and prepares final reports.
Maintain ongoing organizational support for regional initiatives from Executive Sponsors and user groups and keeps relevant stakeholders aware of program status by liaising with various stakeholders, developing communications strategies, and ensuring effective communication take place.
Lead and/or works collaboratively with interdisciplinary care teams in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical protocols/practice guidelines.
Provide leadership, supervision and guidance to designated staff using effective management techniques including but not limited to coaching and mentoring staff, conducting performance evaluations and enabling developmental opportunities, participating in recruitment activities and making hiring decisions. Ensures employee adherence to VCH policies and standards (AWP, respectful workplace, confidentiality, etc.).
Report to the relevant Executive Lead, relevant programs, and applicable Steering Committees on the status of projects, major issues and/or obstacles encountered, as well as change requests, and makes recommendations regarding scope changes.
Participate in data collection and works with Decision Support to ensure monitoring, development of indicators and evaluation data is collected and analyzed.
Represent Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at provincial and community tables as required.
Promote/create the context for clinical inquiry through the integration of research findings into patient care, teaching and consultation for health authority staff.
Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement systems to ensure services standards for health authority programs to meet provincial legislation and policy standards, as well as the organization's Vision, Values and Strategic Directions.
Maintain an awareness of new developments and trends through literature review, contact with peers at other organizations, industry groups, professional associations and attendance at seminars, workshops and education programs.
Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements.
Immediately report unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.

Education RequirementsMaster's Degree in Health Administration, Public Health Administration or other relevant discipline
ExperienceSeven (7) to ten (10) years' recent, related experience in progressively responsible positions in a large, complex acute care organization including demonstrated ability to manage large-scale project(s), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
