The Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Industrial Mechanic who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment. Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the Industrial Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, installing, rebuilding, maintaining, modifying, adjusting, troubleshooting and repairing all manufacturing machinery, building equipment and components. The candidate will participate in the ISO program, continuous improvement projects and lean concepts collaborating with all departments providing input on the re-design and enhancement of overall equipment effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
- Promotes safety and safe work procedures and maintains a high level of safety.
- Works with mint employees to troubleshoot malfunctions and provide feedback and recommend solutions for problematic processes.
- Provides training to individuals or groups of employees. For example leads and setups on the operation of all manufacturing equipment.
- Sets-up and uses shop machines such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders etc.
- Plans and coordinates work activities with other trade groups and departments. For example labour and material estimates, parts availability, defining scope of work and educates stakeholders on impact of running equipment considering equipment damage or employee safety.
- Consults and collaborates with internal and external resources such as service technicians, outside contractors and sales people for training or to recommend and implement new technologies and equipment modifications.
- Use or work with outside contractors, predictive maintenance equipment such as vibration analysis and thermography. Analyze the data collected and determine corrective action.
- Perform pre-start equipment inspections and may have to override manual & electronic safeties while run testing & making adjustments to equipment or systems.
- Investigates the causes of defects by comparing products and materials to engineering drawings and specifications and influences corrective actions.

- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Must possess a Valid Manitoba or Inter-Provincial Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certificate
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and superior fabrication skills
- Demonstrated skills in maintaining and making modifications to all production and related equipment
- Demonstrated skills troubleshooting, identifying practical solutions, and providing clear recommendations
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including ability to co-operate with supervisors and colleagues and ability to foster relationships with other employees to enhance the team environment
- Ability to: fabricate, install, rebuild, maintain, repair, modify and adjust production and building equipment
- Ability to work from mechanical drawings, conduct regular preventative maintenance on manufacturing and building equipment
- Ability to operate all hand tools, power tools and related machinery
- Ability to perform all common types of welding
- Ability to set-up and utilize shop machines such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses and grinders
- Ability to plan and organize activities as well as materials and resources required
