Salary $56,662.05 - $70,770.36 annually

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is the Province’s agency responsible for land and resource management in B.C., which includes the protection of the Province’s archaeological and heritage resources. Operating on a provincial land base of over 94 million hectares, the Ministry ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land based resources; works with Indigenous and rural communities to strengthen and diversify their economies; and, supports activities that provide environmental, economic, cultural and social benefits.

The Licensed Authorizations Officer is a diverse role and works in a variety of settings. This position provides professional advice and may make decisions regarding the allocation of resources and adjudication of resource authorizations for the Natural Resource Sector.

Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.

Qualifications for this role include:
• Degree in the natural resource field, or equivalent, as recognized by the relevant association.
• Registered, or immediately eligible [within 6 months] for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area [e.g., Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists BC (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia)].
• Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
• Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in natural resource management.
• Demonstrated increasing experience implementing legislation and policy in a natural resource sector.
• Must have, or be immediately eligible to obtain, valid BC driver’s licence.

Preferred:
• 3 years’ experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
• 2 years recent [within the last 5 years] experience in negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in natural resource management.
• Demonstrated experience in supervising, leading, coaching and mentoring staff.
• Demonstrated experience using corporate systems [e.g. Tantalis, Imap, ATS, Land Title System, BC Assessment Authority].
• Crown Lands adjudication experience.
