GIS Analyst A great opportunity to take the next step in your career BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests (MOF). Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province's annual available timber volume. BCTS operations are guided by three overarching principles, forest sector safety, reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and sustainable forest management. The GIS Analyst conducts advanced spatial data analysis in support of program and management decision making on resource planning, land management and other program issues. This role provides expert advice to clients, business area staff, contractors and business area specialists in the initiation, design, and specifications of projects, types of source data required and available, data base structure, limitations and related specialized applications. The GIS Analyst also develops or contributes to the development and implementation of quality assurance processes, consistent with provincial standards for the business area, including identifying inefficiencies and problems associated with provincial standards, procedures and policies; makes recommendations for improvements to corporate data integrity working groups. Qualifications for this role include: Diploma or degree in geographic information systems, or in a related field, such as natural resources, geography or Data Science and three years of related experience. OR Equivalent combination of training and five years related experience. Experience designing and developing customized spatial/database tools. Experience delivering complex spatial/tabular analysis projects in support of client's business needs. | |
