Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation Multiple Locations This position can be performed from one of the following BC communities: Victoria, Vancouver, Prince George, Cranbrook, Smithers, Kamloops. This position is also posted as a Scientific Technical Officer (Resource) 27 via REQ 96945. Inspector of Mines, Investigative Lead $70,683.48 - $89,678.84 annually, plus a $34.20 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Smithers The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation is responsible for British Columbia's electricity, alternative energy, mining and petroleum resource sectors and supporting work to meet BC's greenhouse gas reduction targets. The Inspector of Mines, Investigative Lead, leads investigative teams through serious, complex investigations which seek to establish the causal nature of incidents and which may uncover evidence of regulatory breaches or regulatory offences. This position works to ensure compliance with legislation, policies and other standards and provide senior professional compliance and enforcement services. Qualifications for this role include: - Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed professional with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area. (i.e. Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists). Note: Immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BC association within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made. - Degree in a related professional field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association and a minimum of 2 years' related experience in a natural resource field, heavy industry or experience in investigations, occupational health and safety, compliance, and enforcement. - Experience leading investigations and demonstrated experience conducting complex regulatory offence or criminal investigations and taking enforcement action. - Experience with and ability to prepare administrative hearing and/or court documents for complex enforcement scenarios. - Experience in the file coordination of complex enforcement scenarios. | |
