Duties: Reporting to the Chair, Community Services, the Instructor is primarily responsible for the development and delivery of curricula and evaluation of student performance in the ASL English Interpretation and ASL Deaf Studies Diploma Programs. The Instructor assists with other activities such as program promotion, student recruitment, student placement, industry liaison, and various administrative functions. Key job responsibilities include: Facilitate student learning; Assess student learning; Develop/modify curricula. The incumbent will follow administrative procedures, promote College/community relations, participate in professional development and perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in ASL English Interpretation from a recognized learning institution; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Active dual member of CASLI and a provincial chapter
- Significant current work experience as an Interpreter
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language
- Exceptional skills in English Language comprehension and use
- Experience and knowledge in Deaf culture and history, ethics, and cross-cultural issues
- Evidence of strong working relationships with the Deaf community and organizations
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Effective presentation skills with ability to present material to diverse groups with the use of appropriate technology
- A thorough understanding of enculturation and the interpreting process with the ability to nurture students
- Solid experience using current technology including Microsoft office products and on-line learning tools

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience teaching adults in a post-secondary setting
- Certificate of Interpretation (COI)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
- Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including a Vulnerable Persons Sector Check
- Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check
