Your role:

CBC North is looking for a journalist based out of the Montreal office to work on a our weekly TV magazine program Maamuitaau. The Journalist will work with a versatile and well-rounded team passionate about Indigenous culture and stories relevant to the James Bay Cree communities.

More specifically, the Journalist will conduct research, draft copy, process sound and visual footage, and produce thorough, fact-checked, dynamic, compelling news content for delivery across various platforms (TV, radio, web, mobile), in accordance with the Corporation’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

Education RequirementsA high school education or an acceptable combination of education and/or experience.
Essential SkillsExcellent general knowledge.
In-depth knowledge of current events as they relate to Quebecers and Canadians as well as to Cree communities, and the people living there.
Knowledge of the French language would be considered an asset
Knowledge of communications methods specific to TV as well as digital and radio, and also interview techniques.
Interest in honing skills related to digital journalism and open to learning new technology.
Strong familiarity with computers and social media
Curious and engaging on-air personality and a strong affinity and interest in the audience.
Able to analyze, synthesize and think critically.
Able to work under pressure.
Leadership.
Willing to work flexible, irregular hours, depending on the assignment.
Availability to travel across the province of Quebec to smaller communities.
Must possess a valid driver`s license as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company.
ExperienceRelevant experience appropriate to television, current affairs or a newsroom environment.
