The opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Contracts, the successful candidate will lead a high performing team of Contract Administrators in the post award management of contracts for the Costal GasLink Project. The successful candidate will be required to develop a collaborative working relationship with key project stakeholders and contractors. The Contract Lead shall work closely with Category Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Project Controls and Legal. This position will be required to travel approximately 30% of the time to various worksites in British Columbia.

What you'll do

  • Provide sound business direction to the Contract Administration team based on TC Energy's contract administration procedures and policies
  • Facilitate team performance and provide appropriate functional and leadership support for Contracts Administrators
  • Align consistent contractor management standards and best practices across the team
  • Exercise judgment and critical thinking in resolving contracting issues
  • Interface with the Business Unit (BU) during the contract post-award phase and advise the BU on contract related matters
  • Ensure continuous improvement and productivity enhancements
  • Provide contract change management support
  • Actively collect and log SC lessons learned and share lessons learned with the SC team
  • Coach, train and mentor other SC Contract Administrators including on-boarding new SC Contract Administrators
  • Proactively identify and address contractual issues, risks and facilitate resolution
  • Monitor the contractor's performance to ensure the contractor executes the work in accordance with the contract
  • Update and issue to leadership periodic contract status reports, project commitment reports, and other ad-hoc reports and presentations as required or requested
  • Work with the SC, BU and key stakeholders to develop and implement claim avoidance strategies
  • Support with management of claims, back charges and credits including monitoring recovery of claims, back charges and credits
  • Monitor project schedule for delays, milestone dates and deliverables, if required work with contractor for a schedule recovery plan
  • Provide oversight in the management of contractual correspondence including notices and other documents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education preferably in Business/Commerce, Economics, or a related field
  • Six (6) years of related experience in the oil and gas industry or commercial operations experience
  • An experienced professional, familiar with contracting roles on large Canadian projects
  • Excellent relationship skills and leadership qualities
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge, capability and competence in commercial, technical and interpersonal aspects of project delivery
  • Effective communications at all levels of management both internal and external
  • Experience with effective application of contracting processes and tools
  • Leadership experience in a high change environment
  • Highly organized and able to balance multiple competing priorities


Preferred Qualifications

  • Related experience preferably in a managerial or leadership type setting
