The opportunity


Reporting to the Strategy and Regulatory Manager, this position will conduct projects with broad scope in the Liquids asset regulatory area, including preparing tolls and tariffs applications and other filings on the Company's behalf with the Canada Energy Regulator (CER), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other regulatory bodies. This position works in a team environment with other regulatory professionals and legal staff, as well as professionals in the pipeline projects, commercial, accounting and operations areas. This is a regulatory specialist position.


What you'll do

  • Assisting in the preparation and drafting of regulatory filings by contributing regulatory economic policy content to responses to information requests from regulatory agencies and intervenors, written evidence and argument
  • Candidates are able to act with initiative to identify and define issues, as well as recommend appropriate courses of action to leadership for strategic decision making
  • Attending regulatory proceedings or public hearings with the various regulatory bodies
  • May liaise with government and regulatory officials in representing the Company with pipeline industry members and industry associations
  • Stays abreast of current and proposed laws, regulations and industry developments affecting Company projects and initiatives
  • Provide regulatory research analysis support with respect to TC Energy fillings, interventions and strategy/policy development
  • Provide economic analysis of regulatory decisions

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in Economics, Finance or related field
  • 6 years' experience in the pipeline, oil and natural gas or electricity industries
  • Previous experience working in a regulatory environment involving complex regulatory filings
  • Travel is required infrequently, depending on the site chosen for a given regulatory proceeding

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Economics or Public Policy, focused in regulatory economics, industrial organization and/or competition/antitrust policy
  • Strong written and verbal communication; technical writing experience is an asset
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and regulatory filings on a timely basis
  • Demonstrated planning, organization and project management skills
