Ministry of Forests Fort St James, Mackenzie, Prince George, Vanderhoof (Hybrid) Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Planning Forester $69,969.42 - $89,774.32 annually, plus $44.49 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Fort St. James; $44.49 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Mackenzie. BC Timber Sales Stuart-Nechako Business Area's planning team is an established team of three Registered Professional Foresters and one Operations Technologist, who collaborate to plan timber development opportunities over a 5-year cycle within the business area boundaries. The Planning Forester will establish and foster working relationships with internal and external partners, develop and maintain a long-term operating plan compliant with legislative requirements, prepare and oversee field assessment contracts, and submit final reports and deliverables to supervisors in support of the business area goals. Additionally, they will provide support to other teams to ensure compliance with forestry legislation in BC and promote good stewardship of the forests within the Stuart-Nechako Business Area. Experience | Qualifications for this role include: - A Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or be eligible for registration as an RPF with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) and two (2) years of experience in operational field forestry activities. Operational field forestry activities include the following: - Timber harvesting monitoring/conformance - Cut-block development - Forest road engineering - Silviculture - Timber tenure development and administration - Planning integrated resource management |
