Site Reliability Specialist This corporate posting will also be used to establish a cross-ministry eligibility list to fill future permanent vacancies in multiple ministries and locations identified in this posting. Positions from the list will be offered in rank order, as vacancies arise, based on the locations applicants have selected during the hiring process. Some positions may be performed from any approved location within the province of BC through a voluntary telework agreement (with conditions as set out in applicable employer policies), other positions may have office based requirements. Our work centers around the Exchange Lab (previously known as the Continuous Service Improvement, or CSI Lab) - where we host digital delivery teams working to solve priority public challenges. The Site Reliability Specialist is part of a cross-functional team with the DevOps and Cloud Services Branch. This role combines software and systems engineering to build and run at scale, distributed and fault-tolerant software products and platforms as a service. This role ensures that services have reliability, uptime appropriate to create happy clients and partners, while supporting the demand of DevOps to deliver at a fast rate of improvement. The position keeps an ever-watchful eye on the system's capacity and performance. Qualifications for this role include: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science *plus related experience; OR - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. - Minimum two (2) years' experience with continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment principles. - Minimum two (2) years' experience analyzing and troubleshooting systems, monitoring availability and/or practicing complete view of system health, maintenance, and reliability. - Experience with providing guidance and implementing infrastructure solution to reduce the workload by automation. | |
