PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As a CP Spare Intermodal employee you will perform general cleaning/labourer duties with reasonable care throughout the terminal as identified by the Supervisor Operations, your qualificatiosn and seniority. 

This position has no guaranteed minimum hours and will report on a on-call basis.

This role requires working shift work, irregular schedules, long hours, weekends and holidays. 

 

PPS LABOURER POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Clean and set temperature on required equipment in preparation for customer loading;     
  • Inspect equipment within the terminal for damages/defects; 
  • Connect/Disconnect PPS equipment when required on railcars, plug in reefers held on ground; 
  • Monitoring of loaded PPS equipment located within the terminal; 
  • Fuel equipment from stationary tanks and or mobile tank as required, recording liters supplied;  
  • May be required to assist with B&B supplies, replenishing spill kits, clean up minor spills;      
  • Miscellaneous cleaning and general yard waste collection around the terminal including heavy equipment and yard vehicles;  
  • Other miscellaneous duties as/when required.  
  • This is a safety-sensitive position within an environment of heavy equipment and 

constant traffic flow. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalence Diploma;
  • Must possess a valid driver license. 
  • Truck and Transport Mechanic License or equivalent (i.e Red Seal) is an asset;
  • 5+ years of direct work experience as mechanic/technician is an asset;
  • Experience in wheel and tire work;
  • Knowledge of Electrical and Electronics;
  • Computer/diagnostic skills;
  • Knowledge of Cummins/International diesel engines and their components;
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and their components;
  • Knowledge of transmissions and their components;
  • Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools;
  • Demonstrate advanced reading and writing skills;
  • Ability to follow instruction;
