PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Service Design Analyst Systems you will interpret, input and maintain Operating Plan changes across a suite of IT systems including Intelligent Train Scheduler (ITS), MultiRail (MREE), Profile Editor (PE) and Nexus. Specific accountabilities include train profile and blocking reviews, creation and maintenance of all train profiles in Profile Editor (PE), blocks, block to train relationships and train schedules in MultiRail  (MREE). This includes management of access and permissions as well as protecting quality and integrity within the systems (data and system performance).

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Interpret and input design changes in the appropriate IT system tools with intuitive understanding of traffic and systems flow;
  • Updates; change customer cutoffs; create detour profiles; add and cancel trains in Nexus;
  • Responsible for the export of Operating Plan changes to downstream systems via the Railway Extract & Distribution (RED) process throughout each week;
  • Perform blocking plan reviews;
  • Build communication broadcast describing Operating Plan changes;
  • Build and maintain Local Operating Plan documents;
  • Provide effective, timely support for Design systems to the Service Design department;
  • Manage and input Service Design reports which include but not limited to all services SD provides through Operating Plan Explorer in CP Station;
  • Provides cross functional coverage for schedule development through the use of the Intelligent Train Scheduler (ITS) application;
  • Subject matter expert in IT system tools as it relates to current Operating plan systems and new system tool development;
  • Provide guidance and in some cases lead IT system improvements.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in Computer Systems or equivalent experience with CP applications/systems is required;
  • Prior experience within CP Operations/Transportation and Service Design departments is an asset.    
  • Expert knowledge of MultiRail, Train Profile Editor, Railway Extract & Distribution (RED) Cycle, Nexus, TYES and Corporate reports an asset. ;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Good teamwork skills;
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex systems data in layman terms.

Management Conductor Program:
