About the Opportunity

Our fast-paced Surrey office is looking to hire a highly capable CAD Technologist/Technician to join our Transportation Team. This team is an integral part of our practice and focuses on developing transportation solutions that improve the movement of people and goods between and within communities across BC.

As an Intermediate CAD Technologist, you are responsible for working alongside a team of engineers and planners and leading junior drafting specialists to translate high-level conceptual designs from preliminary to detailed design. Some of your daily responsibilities will be:
- Use AutoCAD and Civil3D software to create technical drawings
- Encourage and guide junior members on adherence to client standards
- Create base file packages and organize information from multiple sources
- Be part of a dynamic team with leadership and mentoring opportunities
- Support team with drawing quality control to verify accuracy of production work
- Perform a variety of analytical assignments with independent judgment
- Preparation of quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates

Due to COVID-19, the opportunity to work remotely and from home does exist, although, from time to time, we may need assistance with client work or face-to-face meetings. Therefore, the individual would need to reside in the Lower Mainland.
ExperienceAbout You

Our preferred candidate is a graduate of a Civil/CADD Technician or Civil Engineering Technology program with 3-6 years of working experience and is eligible to be registered with ASTTBC. In addition, the following attributes would be considered beneficial for this role:

- Experience with BC Ministry of Transportation drawing standards
- Ability to create clean and easy-to-use drawing templates
- Strong organizational skills, and a passion for keeping projects tidy
- Confident in working in a self-directed work environment, with the ability to balance
multiple projects and deadlines
- Interest in leading/mentoring and supporting junior staff
- A keen eye for detail and takes great pride in their work
- Committed to ongoing personal and professional development
- Certification or eligible for certification with ASTTBC
