Building Technology Advisor, Energy/HVAC
$87,098.87 - $99,738.35 annually

Workplace Development Services is a Branch within the Real Property Division, providing expert advisory services in project delivery and oversight, building technology and strategic facilities planning to our clients throughout the Provincial Government.

We are seeking to expand the expertise on our team of architects, engineers, technologists and building technology advisors by adding a specialist in the area of HVAC/Energy management. In this role you will be providing expert advice on all aspects of energy-efficient technology systems, alternatives, and innovations on projects that often involve complex and challenging technical issues with potentially significant financial and operational implications. With the client’s needs foremost, your will be analyzing the energy impacts of proposed designs with due consideration of capital and operating costs and to ensure alignment with government-wide building management strategies and goals.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Post-secondary degree in mechanical engineering, plus 7 years of design experience in the field of HVAC and Energy management OR
• Diploma or certificate in building mechanical engineering, plus preferably 7-10 years current progressively more senior experience in the field of HVAC and Energy with related experiences as described below.
• An equivalent combination of education, training and related experience may be considered.

Related experience includes:

• Experience operating energy systems or writing specifications of appropriate energy systems required to support the position’s discipline/area of expertise, with emphasis on institutional facilities.
• Experience in Commercial Building Energy Auditing.
• A minimum of 7 years of HVAC design experience in Commercial or Institutional projects
• Experience in Energy Modeling
• Demonstrated experience in energy and mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated experience in project management methodology related to energy efficiency in building construction.
• Experience within a service-oriented organization with commitment to client service, innovation and creativity, and a strong focus on delivering results.
• Experience in assessing (or reviewing) innovative technologies and products; renewable energy experience would be an asset.
• Experience in facilitating and resolving conflicting goals with multiple clients, vendors and contractors.
