The opportunity
As a member of the Taxation organization and reporting to the Manager, Tax Technology, the successful candidate will be a key resource in the design, standardization, and streamlining of process and systems solutions throughout the Taxation Organization. You will be a results oriented individual who will deliver on assigned tasks and be a proactive partner and change champion within the Taxation team. You will be responsible for providing direction, completing tasks, and engaging others to accomplish goals defined by the role. You may, from time to time, be asked to serve as Project Leader for tax-specific assignments, to lead a team of indirect reports (including: analysts or technical specialists, etc.) and be expected to plan, oversee and direct the daily activities of these team members, monitoring progress, identifying barriers and recommending corrective action.

 

In addition to the implementation of systems and processes, this person should be prepared to identify, define and research process issues and make recommendations for solutions. This role is crucial to the innovation and transformation of tax processes and systems throughout TC Energy.


*This position can be located in either our Calgary or Houston office location. This position is not eligible for our relocation program.


*This position will require travel across borders and as such the candidate must be able to provide applicable documentation to this affect.
 

What you’ll do
In this role you will be a key contact for initiatives requiring representation from Tax Technology, including:
        o Represent interests on behalf of the department
        o Lead process change management requirement sessions
        o Engage with appropriate stakeholders
        o Obtain feedback and approval from management
        o Facilitate action plans for implementation, provide updates and escalate issues
        o Serve as project leader on business specific assignments

• Provide guidance and leadership to team members within Taxation
• Act as a key resource in scoping, development, and implementation of key strategic initiatives related to Taxation and across the CFO
• Collaborate with the various internal and external stakeholders, as required, to contribute to the development and implementation of quality processes and systems
• Prepare and present materials on the status of initiatives to senior management
• Support the refresh of the Taxation Technology roadmap
• Other tasks as required
 

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferably in Commerce, Information Systems or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years in a business analyst, project management, project lead, process change agent, or equivalent role
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and advanced technical skills with computers and software

 

Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of ETL, reporting, tax, and taxation software (i.e. PowerTax, Vertex, OneSource (OTP, OSA), Corptax, Alteryx, Power Query, Power BI) is considered an asset
• Facilitation experience is considered an asset
• SAP (ECC, BPC) knowledge is considered an asset
• Ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Strategic thinking and problem solving ability
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitating group discussion/meetings
• Strong negotiating and influencing skills
• Strong change management and collaboration skills
• Solid understanding of project management processes
• Detail oriented, self-motivated professional with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
• Demonstrated adaptability and ability to work in a team environment
• Proven ability to deliver on commitments and achieve business results
