Ministry of Forests Multiple locations, BC (Hybrid) Currently there is one (1) temporary opportunity available until October 24, 2025. This position may be extended or become permanent. This position can be based in a Natural Resource Sector office. Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Senior Permitting Archeologist $83,071.72 - $94,752.42 annually The Archaeology Branch Disaster Response and Recovery Team is a dedicated group of twelve professionals, including Permitting and Inventory Archaeologists, GIS Specialists, and Indigenous Relations Officers. Together, they facilitate disaster response and recovery efforts in collaboration with provincial ministries, local municipalities, First Nations, and residents, ensuring archaeological sites are protected and community needs are met. As a Senior Permitting Archaeologist, you will provide expert advice to Management and Executive, support the archaeological community, local governments, industry and First Nations in the administration of Heritage Conservation Act permits, and supervise staff while managing complex files. You will play a key role in navigating controversial or politically sensitive issues related to archaeological resource management. | |

Education Requirements | Qualifications for this role include: - Bachelor of Arts or Science in Archaeology, OR - Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a specialization in archaeology, OR - A master's degree (or higher) in Archaeology or Anthropology with a specialization in archaeology, or a related field, OR - An equivalent combination of education and/or training and related experience* may be considered. *Related experience must include the following: - Minimum four (4) years' senior level experience in archaeological resource management, specifically a combination of fieldwork, reporting, and liaison with Indigenous organizations and regulatory bodies. - Experience interpreting and applying archaeological and cultural resource management legislation and/or policy. - Experience leading others. - Experience providing briefings and recommendations to senior management. |
