Breakfast Television is looking for a part-time Associate Producer [for a 12 month contract], capable of using traditional and non-traditional media to provide industry leading local news coverage. Reporting to the Supervising Producer, the successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional editorial skills while producing compelling news stories and interview segments.

What you’ll be doing:

Working as part of a team, you will create fast-paced, compelling and informative news stories airing every 15 minutes in BT news packs and other CityNews programming
Take ownership of news content from beginning to end
Source news stories from a variety of outlets to create and present strategic daily content.
Chase breaking news
Pitch, chase and produce interview segments for live TV
Recognize deadlines and prioritize work accordingly.
Ensure that content is factually and grammatically correct, and follows the designed style-guide.
Participate in post-production meetings and critique sessions
Conduct research and confirm information for stories
Screen and select footage from internal and external libraries and other resources
Various editorial and newsroom tasks as required, including feeds coordination and media operations liaison
Assign resources to gather news elements and create news packages
Other duties as required

What you have:

Minimum 4 years of TV and/or digital news producing, writing or reporting experience
Ability to work individually and part of a team
Creative vision and keen editorial judgment
Superior writing, organizational and interpersonal skills
Control room and field production experience an asset.
A journalism diploma or equivalent experience
Early morning shift work required
Sound communication skills.
Social Media acumen
